Compare recording options
Local recording can continue without a working internet uplink when local power and networking remain available. Cloud recording depends on an upload path and a contracted storage service. A hybrid arrangement can combine local continuity with centrally accessible evidence; recovery and synchronization must be tested.
Size storage and connectivity
Retention depends on camera count, average video bitrate, hours recorded and recording days. As an illustration, one continuous 2 Mbps stream uses about 21.6 GB per day before overhead; 16 such streams need roughly 10.4 TB for 30 days. Measure actual rates and add capacity for the agreed storage design.
Define access and retention
Specify storage region, encryption in transit and at rest, access roles, deletion schedules and export rights. Confirm key management and backup restoration. Encryption alone does not mean that only your team can access footage, and a backup copy needs its own retention policy.
